Man After the Fall, Election
The Detroit Church believes that mankind fell in the first Adam. As a result of this fall, men are totally corrupted under sin and incapable of recovering themselves from their fallen condition.
We believe that the eternal salvation of men from sin is alone the work of the Godhead. Salvation is by grace and is not conditioned upon the will or work of the sinner. Eternal salvation rests on God's choice of those whom He will have to be His children.
We believe that Christ died only for those elected of God and that His death was effectual in putting away their sins and securing their eternal salvation. This salvation is applied by the irresistible grace of God in the new birth or quickening unto eternal life. We believe that all of those elected of God will be eternally saved, without the loss of one.
Be it understood that this is not an exhaustive statement of the faith of The Detroit Church. It is intended only as a simplified statement of identification. It states our position on several points of doctrine discussed among Bible readers.
